IOM/BHRI – Crisis Communications strategy for City of Bihać
City of Bihać is most affected by the migrant crisis in BiH, due to its position and being close to the EU border. In the past three years, Bihać has become the final transfer point for the migrants which has caused disturbance of the local population and has motivated City Mayor to ask for help in strengthening capacities to cope with the crisis, particularly in the field of crisis communication and enhancing abilities of existing resources to manage communication in crises.
Agency has conducted in-depth research, capacity building through crisis communication education (two specialized workshops), developed crisis communication strategy while doing additional capacity building (additional two workshops); supported organizing round table with NGO, educational institutions and other stakeholders in order to build community capacities to deal with crises while collaborating; supported event with the media and provided simple step by step instruction to help the City administration and the Mayor manage regular daily and crises communication.
